Washington State’s Department of Corrections is trying to repurpose a closed youth jail into a new women’s prison. They are pitching this as a humane solution to overcrowding in existing prisons. We know that a new prison just puts more people in cages and does nothing to keep anyone safe. We are fighting so that Maple Lane never opens. We are fighting to end prison and jail expansion in Washington State.
