Mariame Kaba, Rachel Caidor, Deana Lewis, and Beth Richie will discuss Black feminist abolitionist movement building and organizing in Chicago and beyond. They bring years of experience in building abolitionist campaigns for incarcerated survivors and in response to Black women killed by police as well as creating gatherings and exhibits for public education and skill building. They will reflect on their work, including the No Selves to Defend: The Legacy of Criminalizing Self Defense and Survival exhibit, The Blood at the Root: Unearthing the Stories of State Violence Against Black Women, and campaigns including #ByeAnita, the #FreeMarissaAlexander campaign (now Love & Protect), #FreeBreshaMeadows, and more.
