Today is Nan-Hui Jo‘s birthday! Last year, she spent her birthday in jail awaiting sentencing after her second trial resulted in a guilty conviction. This year, she is spending her birthday in her own home, and will be celebrating with friends and community.

We wish Nan-Hui a happy birthday, and are still committed to supporting her in her struggle for justice and full freedom. Though Nan-Hui was released from immigration detention last summer, she is still in deportation proceedings and is awaiting immigration, criminal, and family court decisions that determine her ability to stay here and parent her child without restrictions. We will continue to watch closely and advocate for her.

We celebrate Nan-Hui’s life and resilience, and the lives of all those who are #SurvivedAndPunished—particularly those who are currently fighting intense criminalization in court proceedings right now, We join in solidarity to support Cherelle Baldwin in Connecticut and Anna Nepomuceno in California.

Towards freedom,
Stand With Nan-Hui organizers
