June 30: Another World is Possible: Bluestockings and Survived & Punished NY Party

June 30, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

June 30, 7pm ET

On June 30th, join Bluestockings and Survived & Punished as we honor the radical legacy of Pride Month as an uprising against state-sanctioned violence led by Black and brown trans women, sex workers, and people outside of the confines of the Western gender binary. To celebrate Bluestockings’ 21st birthday, we’ve partnered with the New York formation of the national grassroots prison abolitionist organization Survived and Punished to bring you a lineup full of amazing speakers over Zoom, in hopes that we can raise money to help continue funding survivor-informed, abolitionist feminist-led organizing and to help keep Bluestockings’ doors open to serve the queer and trans communities that have made us who we are for over 21 years.

S&P NY works towards freeing all criminalized survivors of gender violence caged in prisons in New York. Proceeds from this event will be split 50/50 with our comrades at Survived & Punished NY, with our goal being to raise $50,000 for each of us! Emceed by Bluestockings’ own favorite abolitionist Leila Raven, join us to hear from fantastic speakers such as:

Janet Mock,
Roxane Gay,
Carmen Maria Machado,
Gabby Rivera,
Molly Crabapple,
Jenny Zhang,
Yaa Gyasi,
Tommy Pico,
and Jes Tom.

Tickets to the party are sliding scale, starting at $5. After each reading, we will raffle off a copy of a book from each of our speakers. Everyone who buys a ticket at $25 or more will automatically be entered into these raffles. Folks who buy a ticket at $50 or more, will be entered in the final raffle: rare first edition feminist texts, a beautiful Beehive Collective poster, and a Bluestockings shirt.
